A day after the Israeli Defence Forces released a map illustrating the range of Iran’s missiles, which inaccurately showed Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan, Israel issued an apology on Saturday, clarifying that the map was not meant to depict precise national borders.
The map, released amid the escalating military conflict between Israel and Iran, has drawn objections from India.
The IDF posted the map on Friday, saying that “Iran is a global threat” and “Israel is not the end goal, it’s only the beginning”. “We had no other choice but to act,” it added, referring to the military offensive. The map also included India within the range of Iran’s missile range.
Responding to an X user who flagged the inaccuracies, the IDF on Saturday said, “This post is an illustration of the region. This map fails to precisely depict borders. We apologise for any offence caused by this image”.
