Cooking has long been considered the sole responsibility of women. This gender stereotype has its roots in archaic societies where women were expected to stay indoors and men were expected to be the breadwinners. While these norms persist in some parts of our country, some people are willing to bring about a change in the minds of people. We recently came across one such video that showcases this desire to change in the best possible way. The video shows a man cooking with his mother in an attempt to break this stereotypical role.

The video was shared on Instagram by Madhur Singh. In the clip, we can see him kneading dough to make rotis. He then rolls it out and puts the roti on the tawa. Though the roti was not round, he continued to cook. We can also see his mother helping and guiding him in the kitchen. “My mom teaches me how to cook so that I can treat her future daughter-in-law with wholesome food every day when she comes back from work,” read the text in the video. Singh captioned the video, “Ladies, find yourself a man who can cook delicious dinner for you when you come back home from work on a Monday evening.” Check out the full video here:

“Our chapati may not be as round, but we are definitely doing 7 rounds of sath phere around the holy fire.”
“Your mother deserves accolades.”
