The Karnataka High Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the Bengaluru stampede case and has scheduled the next hearing of the case for June 10. 


“We have expressed ourselves to the Advocate General and he has filed a status report, which is taken on record. Registry is directed to register this suo-motu cognisance as suo-moto WP. Relist on 10th June, Tuesday,” ANI quoted Karnataka High Court as saying.

The stampede took place outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, during the victory celebrations of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, claiming the lives of 11 people and injuring 47 people.

The injured have been admitted to Bowring and Vydehi Hospitals after the incident occurred amid massive crowds celebrating the team’s victory.

The victims include Divyanshi (13), Doresha (32), Bhoomik (20), Sahana (25), Akshata (27), Manoj (33), Shravan (20), Devi (29), Shivalinga (17), Chinmayi (19), and Prajwal (20).

Following the incident, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of 11 victims of the Bengaluru stampede.

“The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased. In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident. Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief,” Royal Challengers Bengaluru said in a post on X. 

BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan has strongly condemned the Bengaluru stampede incident and blamed the state government for the incident, saying the state government government should have taken concrete steps.



“I strongly condemn the Bengaluru incident in which 11 lives were lost. The Karnataka government should have taken concrete steps. The state government should be very careful in handling the crowd. The Karnataka government was blaming the UP government for Kumbh, but look what has happened there,” ANI quoted Tamilisai as saying.
