New Delhi: Have you ever thought that whenever there is a big festival in India and the temples get overcrowded, there is some or other accident that takes place? We have seen it quite a few times now and today was another such day, this time the tragic incident took place in Indore temple when the roof of the well, which housed the shrine, collapsed due to heavy footfalls and more than 10 people died. The issue is people just say it’s God’s will and move on and the government and system of our country shirk from their responsibility by calling it an act of God.

In today’s DNA, Zee News’ Rohit Ranjan analysed the tragic accident that took place at Indore temple which took 13 lives

On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, aarti was being performed in the ancient Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal temple of Indore. The whole atmosphere was happy. Suddenly the earth exploded with a loud noise. And 25 people who were performing ‘havan’ on the terrace fell down and those who survived, didn’t even understand what happened. There was a big pit in the whole temple, seeing which there was chaos. In a short while, the dejected people realized that the roof of the stepwell in the temple had caved in. The accident took place during Havan. More than 25 people were sitting on the terrace of the stepwell. Due to being overweight, the roof broke and people fell down. 

Within no time, teams of the State Disaster Management and Police started evacuating people with the help of ropes. People started being pulled out one by one by lowering the rope stairs. Local people were also helping the rescue teams in the rescue work. Some people survived but 13 people lost thier lives and most of them were women and children. 

Families of people who lost their lives in this accident will be thinking that it was God’s will and move on. But we will ask the question to the system, government, and administration involved in it who will take the responsibility for the death of 13 innocent people? Was the accident in the Indore temple on the auspicious festival of Ram Navami an act of God or an act of fraud of the system?
