There is something comforting about dosa. The crispy delight paired with aloo masala, a piping hot bowl of sambhar and coconut chutney is a true delight for all foodies out there. All in all, this quintessential South Indian breakfast has managed to soothe our taste buds and make our tummy do the happy dance. Maybe it is the love for dosa that often makes this South Indian delicacy a target for bizarre food experiments. From Korean noodles dosa to red sauce pasta dosa, there is no dearth of bizarre dosa dishes on social media. Now, taking the experimentation a step forward, a recent viral video shows “sev-puri dosa”. Sounds weird, doesn’t it?

The clip, which was shared by an Instagram user (@denish.tanna) captures the preparation of this unconventional dish. Instead of the original lip-smacking aloo filling of the dosa, the vendor uses the much-loved street food, sev puri, to make a stuffing. As seen in the video, the man had already spread a scoop of dosa batter on the tawa. He empties a plateful of delicious-looking sev-puri on it, and with a metal spatula, mixes and spreads it evenly on the dosa. The vendor finishes off by topping the filling with a generous amount of grated cheese and sev. The sev puri dosa is served with some chutney and a single sev puri. Calling it “India’s most unique” dosa recipe, the food vlogger revealed that the vendor is selling the snack for Rs. 180. Watch the full video here.

The video has received around 644K views so far. People did not find this fusion appetising. One person wrote, “A simple question, WHY….” It wasn’t just the food experiment, the users also questioned the price factor of the recipe. One of them wrote, “Dono alag alag leta, toh Rs.90 ka padta. (If both were taken separately, then it would have cost Rs.90.)”
Another commented, “Bhai tu dosa se nafrat karva dega. (Brother you will make me hate dosa.)”
A person also offered a sarcastic suggestion, saying, “Pav-bhaji dosa bhi banalo yar. (Make Pav-bhaji dosa also.)”
Well, this is not the first time dosa has been in the news. Before this, videos of ice cream dosa as well as aamras and cheese dosa have gone viral on the internet.
