An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck the southern Iran region, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said on Thursday. The quake was at a depth of 27 kilometers (16.78 miles).
The earthquake struck early Thursday, around 12:30 am local time, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The citizen-based RaspberryShake network also recorded the quake, estimating it at magnitude 5.2. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported the same magnitude.
