Supporters of Bangladesh interim government chief adviser Muhammad Yunus have announced a protest rally in Dhaka on Friday amid reports that Yunus might leave his post.

His supporters have announced a protest rally called ‘March For Yunus’ at Dhaka’s Shahbagh after the Friday prayers. Posters have been put up in the capital city calling on people to join the march.

The protesters, as per the posters, have two key demands: “Keep Yunus in power for five years” and “reforms first, elections later”.

The protests come after reports said Yunus has threatened to resign in wake of Bangladesh army chief general Waker-Uz-Zaman’s call for fresh election. He has said national elections should be held by December this year, reaffirming it is the exclusive right of an elected government to determine the country’s future.
